Brandon Lewis CBE MP visited St. Mary's Church on Friday 11 March 2020 to see the progress of the works being undertaken with the re-roofing of the church.
Mr. Lewis also showed an interest at the damage that has been done to the mural of Our Lady of Yarmouth since being extensively damaged through previous water ingress. The Safe Haven for 50 nations and the National Flags also caused further positive discussion.
An interest in our future plans when the roof is finally dealt with was examined and our desire to have both halls merged together to make better use of the halls and provide more community services received positive encouragement.
Whilst on site, we could not miss the opportunity to request Mr. Lewis sponsor a tile for the roof, there was no problem with that, and his message has also been received.
Mr. Lewis was really impressed by our vision for St. Mary's Church and has pledged his support for future projects.
Thanks go to Fr. Anthony, Fr. Alvan and Eloise Limmer our Historic Churches Support Officer for the Diocese of East Anglia for their support in this project.
